I was away from town for a couple months and all of the sudden while driving on Old Trenton Rd at 2:15 a.m. realized the speed limit was lowered to 35mph. Seems kind of slow, I guess it would only make sense that it is during construction. It's hard to go that slow at night considering it's 50 mph most of the way from 295.

Yea, its a good change, its permanent even after the construction is over, it will still be 35MPH. Feel free to use RT571 and RT130 if you want to go faster, but on OLD Trenton in Cranbury its 35mph permanently.

It has now been 4 years since this idiotic speed limit has been placed on this road, and its funny that nobody goes 35 mph on Old Trenton Rd road. Not even shadow oaks residents! Studies have shown that people drive at a speed they feel safe with, and the average speed on this road is 45 to 50.

I usually drive between 40 and 45 if I am in front of a pack. I have a Valentine 1 radar detector to tell me when to slow down. Smile

If I am following, I respect people in front that drive 35mph (don't try to push).

Not sure where you are getting your data, but I see plenty of people driving 40 MPH on that section of Old Trenton all the time. I drive it every day, usually intentionally regulating not to exceed 40 MPH and very rarely get tailgated or significantly lose pace with the car in front of me.

Can you please provide a link to your data source for the average speed being 45-50 MPH?

I believe residents asked that the speed be changed to 40 MPH but the country made it 35. 40 MPH makes total sense. That is already the speed of the road on either end of this section of Old Trenton so it would be totally consistent. No reason this section with it's homes and park should be 50 MPH like it was before when it's 40 MPH through the business park district in East Windsor.

I have heard of a few people getting tickets for going over 40mph. I personally think the road is good at 40, but the county went with 35. I think 50 mph is too fast. With residents, an active park and if it comes back we'll have a swim club where kids ride bikes to in the summer.

I go 35mph and set cruise control. I do so because as a resident I feel I can't complain about speeders on Main St and Cranbury Neck Rd if I am going to speed. So I make sure to go the speed limit. Plainsboro, Cranbury Neck and Main St to me are the worst for speeding.

We need to reinstate the Cranbury crawl and slow down in our town signs from a few years ago.

35mph is ridiculous. It was fine at 50mph. Even 45 would be ok. But 35 is asinine.
