It looks like the 2011 budget is reserving approximately $450,000 more for debt service than is required for payment of interest and principle, at least according to the summary sheet. Can someone explain why? Are they accelerating pay down? And what is meant by "include for School Purposes"?
It also looks like they are using $1.7 million from a surplus to cover the 2011 budget and used about $1.1 million last year. How much will be remaining in the surplus after 2011?
Thanks. |

At this rate the surplus is used up in three years. When is someone going to make serious cuts to the budget? The CAP will force huge cuts in 2014 if smaller cuts are not made now. |

If that is true, that means either they are assuming radically optimistic increases in retables and assessments or renewed State contributions in three years or when that time comes we’ll have to cut over $1.7+ mill from the budget all at once in one year rather than cutting a smaller percentage gradually over multiple years. Or go into additional debt or raise taxes, but the latter is restricted by statute now.
I’m curious why we would be over-paying our debt requirement in the same year we’re raiding the surplus. What was the thinking behind this? |

Weird. The link in the first post goes to a completely different document than it did this morning. |
