Town seeking lower speed

The Township Committee wants to lower the speed limit on Old Trenton Road.

The committee approved a resolution Monday asking the county to lower the speed limit on the 50-mph road to 40 mph, a request many residents have long anticipated.

The township will also send a letter to the Middlesex County Board of Chosen Freeholders, explaining the request and detailing local concerns about the road, Mayor David Stout said.

"Our goal was to have this to accompany the letter," Mayor Stout said, adding that the letter will go more in depth about specific concerns about the road. "Obviously, the letter will have a little more to it."
