A nice feature of the new library that would help everyone is moving sidewalks and a covered walkway and/or pedestrian bridge. |

Why not have residents vote this thing up or down? Will of the peeps should prevail. |

We need a library that is cranbury. Let's not imitate other towns by building a basic storage barn type building. Let's build a library that's the envy of every town. Make it multi-tiered with a second floor devoted to students coming in from the pedestrian bridge. This way we can have meetings and sitting area downstairs by the fireplace (hard to get up stairs at this point) to enjoy the views. It's about time these rich people paid their fair share and gave this great town what it deserves. |

I second the comments about an enhanced design. I'd donate much more than we do now to something really special. |

I totally agree, lets build something that will last into the future. Community/meeting rooms on first floor, K-12 library on second floor with study rooms. Third floor should be for fiction/ non fiction and technology rentals. Why build something that is obsolete before it is even completed? Planning needs to be up to date otherwise we will have another completely outdated library facility. |

At least one elevator is also needed to accommodate needed people to get to the 3rd floor. |

maybe loose 2-4 parking spots in the school parking lot, and have a well marked, well lit crossing of the parking lot. And use rumble strips if speed bumps are not ok. |

Reason #44: please bring your great ideas to the Library Board Meeting. The new library is going to have an idea box in a time capsule where all of your great ideas will be stored for safe keeping for years and years. All in favor... Write a check! |

Let's have an assessment of 1000 per home in Cranbury to build a real library. Multiple floors that serves all of the people in a myriad of ways. This would have cutting edge technology, meeting rooms, and activities for patrons of all ages. Why are we being so cheap? Let's build a library not a storage bin. |

Reason #31: We need new math books... not these fancy calculating and computing machines, but good old fashioned math books. Then we can use those books to figure out that $1,000 per household assessment is only about $1.2 million, or about 30% of what the library says they need to build the book barn they want to build. If you really want a "real library" everyone should agree to pay twice their taxes one year. All in favor... write a check! |

At the Library Q&A we learned that to fund the remaining 1.4 million to build the building would cost $30.00 extra in taxes. The school budget often goes up hundreds of dollars each year in taxes.
The person who is posting $1000.00 extra in taxes is misinformed.
In any case, the library is committed to raising the money through the foundation so no increase in taxes. They had displays demonstrating how the rent that is paid to the school will cover the operating costs of the building. Also, the school doesn't money because the rent covers the extra costs to keep the library in the building, and they would gain security and space. |

Let's assume the school stayed flat with rent. No idea if they do, but my guess is they would rarely check expenses given they went decades without rent.
If we assume 3% inflation then how many years is it before the cost of rent to is exceeded by expenses. Are we talking decades in which case the library argument holds water or are we talking 2 years which would mean that expenses would exceed rent by the time the building is built. |

Reason #32: Assuming you accept all of the library board's assumptions about the costs to build, furnish, operate and maintain a new library (and why wouldn't you?), and the magic math that says it somehow won't affect the school to lose $60,000 in rent, then it's not $1,000 per household, it's only 30 easy payments of $33.33. All in favor, write a check!
