Good thing they are increasing aid to the volunteers. Maybe they’ll show up now in 2019 or maybe we will have to continue to wait for other towns ambulances to respond.

Unbelievable. Two people take an extremely positive letter with great news and can only respond with negative comments. Great going TC! Thanks for being fiscally responsible and looking out for our interests!

Why do we have to pay extra to clean out the lake of the toxic heavy metals in there that come from the industry upstream?

At the last TC report of the lake a year or two ago they stated the lake was actually not showing a high level of contamination. What they are dredging is the soil that has naturally started to fill the lake in. They need to bring back the natural lake floor.

The contamination is from historic use of pesticides [Google--- Historic Pesticide Use N. J. ]. Cranbury as an agricultural community used those products for decades. The township failed to adopt provisions for erosion control. Those contaminants were part of the soil erosion that occurred at the warehouses that were built on Station road and Half Acre road due to failure to provide the approved erosion control measures that were part of the zoning approval process .Cranbury refused to properly oversee those projects and enforce the conditions of approval. The township was warned about the problem after the last time they had to dredge the lake.
That hill in the park is the contaminated soil that was left to be played on by the children on the mountain in the park from the last dredging. The benefit of dredging now will only benefit the Whos Who of the Lake crowd [Cook -Nissen etc.]. We really are wasting our money on this project where we could be doing more constructive things with our $$$.

If the lake is not dredged it will fill in to a swamp. The town did a preliminary soil test that showed it was not highly contaminated as you are saying. If you don’t believe me ask town hall.

Don’t go spreading this misinformation.

If you want the lake to go away that is a central part of our town, then you are in the minority. And you don’t say what you want the money spent on.

If the contamination is not that bad, then why spend premium $$$ to get that mud transported far away to some site that can handle that toxic sludge. Let's build a new sledding hill instead and save the money. Just pesticide residue? That's not bad.

Or maybe we can dump it across the street near one of the warehouses. Cranbury residents pay dearly for this mismanagement.

There is no cost yet or plan yet for removal. The TC did a preliminary test and found there were not high levels of nasty things. The TC stated their next phase is the detailed review and then once that is done find out what the transportation options are and where it can go.

The point is if you do nothing the lake goes away and there are very few residents that are okay with no lake in town.

Or Liberty Way or Petty Road. There are a lot of projects on the list.
It is interesting that the lake gets top billing all of a sudden.

No mystery why taxes are being lowered - more ratables and the economy is better. Not magic.

But to give back a full 10 cents when we do have a lot of things that have been put on the back burner for so long. Giving back some makes sense.

If you read the letter they have a number of road projects in addition to the lake.

For a group of people saving money you seem to only want problems.

You do also realize that the warehouses and financials are only hear because of past Tc members and Planning board members and Dan, Glenn, Jay, Susan and Dave who tightened spending the past 10 years. No one lucked into this situation except maybe Mike and Matt, but they too worked to help the town the last 1.5 years.

I guess Glenn, Jay, and Dan have to take part of the blame for the Cranbury Station mess since all of them have been on the TC for 10+ years.

What is the long-term solution for our neighbors living in that part of town?

Nice try at baiting.

If people moved in after 1990 they should have known they were moving into a warehouse district. The Jamesway was there in the 1980’s so anyone who was buying should have said wait a second. You can’t pay lower value on a home in a warehouse zone and then turn around and complain that there are trucks and you’re impacted. The taxes, home values in that section all account for that inconvenience.

That stated, I do think the TC should do something within reason such as signage to avoid trucks going down the residential street.
