Board receives multiple higher bids to improve Cranbury School's heating and air conditioning.
The project to improve Cranbury School's heating, ventilation and air conditioning system will be pared back and delayed after the school board received seven bids that came in higher than expected.
The Board of Education voted Tuesday to reject the bids, which ranged between $1.4 million and $2.7 million, according to School Business Administrator Brian DeLucia.
Mr. DeLucia said the school board set a $1.1 million budgetary cap for construction, excluding about $330,000 in soft costs for architecture and design.
Mr. DeLucia said the school board and LAN Architects will go back to the drawing board, eliminating new HVAC service to all but two of the 10 classrooms that were expected to be covered under the original plan.
