The gubmint and the corporations BOTH did/do stupid things.
Regulations were put in place in the 1930s to keep the financial system from melting. In the 1980s people thought that regulations were put there by mean people to keep the rich people down. Laws were chipped away until there were toothless regulations left. The SEC was/is useless. Like putting the fox in charge of the henhouse!
Money goes to money.
Wherever there is lots of easy money to be made, someone will grab it at the expense of everyone else.
I have nothing against people who actually earn money. It's the banksters and other assorted criminal elements that gets my goat.
High finance and the gov. are in bed together, we, The People are just voyeurs who buys our tickets and takes our chances. |

Looks like the outrage over the AIG bonuses has had an effect. Now Fanny May and Freddy Mac, the root cause of our problems , are going to give out over $200 million of our money in bonuses. Good going guys! |

I would never buy stocks of a company who pays huge bonuses to their employees and executives.
As we all know by now, the bonuses are real, and the profits are fictional (mark-to-my-estimated-profit-to-earn-huge-bonus). |
