I don’t have any kids in school, but what is coming to all public schools in NJ is unconscionable. Staring in the new school year first grade teachers will teach gender identity, ask students to define gender, and address gender stereotypes. Part of this “Pink, Blue, and Purple” plan tells children “You might feel like you boy even if you have body parts that some people might tell you are ‘girl parts’.” In second grade they progress to “Understanding Our Bodies.” Teachers are instructed to tell students that being a boy or girl doesn’t mean you have to have those parts. This is outrageous! Since when is it the school’s job to teach these ideologies? It’s the parents job to teach their children about sex, religion, and moral values. It’s the schools job to teach reading, math, sciences, etc. I implore you to get involved with the school and argue against these programs that will be implemented this fall unless parents get tough. These topics are the last thing that primary age children care about.

I am more concerned about what is being taught in our schools.

Recently I spoke to one parent whose daughter was in a class where a bullying incident was alleged to have occurred. The school brought the kids from the class in and interviewed each one. His daughter he said was classified as a witness just by being in the room. So the school did not need to tell them. The school then had her sign a document stating she told the truth when questioned and that the statements she gave were truthful. The school had her sign the document without any parent review or notice and refused to provide the document to them when asked for a copy.

How is the school having kids sign documents without parent notice and what happens to kids if they forget something are they then punished?

The school wants our support when it comes to money. But not when it comes to telling us what is happening at school.

By the way the kids are minors. So signing anything has no merit except the school itself bullying and intimidating the kids.

Absolutely disgusting to be teaching children of that age stuff like that. Unfortunately this is what happens when you elect liberal fools.

You guys are so funny. If you disagree with what is being taught or how the curriculum is run....why don't you take the next step and run for the Board of Ed to get involved instead of complaining on a stooopid board like this?

I can tell you personally. I have called the school and BOE members. BOE members have told me talk to Dr. Genco. No action ever happens. I know two other families who had to discuss legal action.

Yes I agree that complaining here doesn’t do anything. But it does alert people to issues. The answer is not always run for TC or BOE.

I’ve been a BOE member but don’t believe I should have to run every year to assure our children of an excellent education. I do believe they receive this, but I’m absolutely against the school replacing the parent(s) in the area of sex education. The state board of education (supported by Murphy of course) pushed this sex and gender curriculum for children as young as 7 years old. These children want to learn to read, write, calculate, but ask any, and I bet they don’t care about sex or gender identity.

What does this have to do with what is being taught? Everything you typed above describes an administrative issue and not a teaching issue.
Honestly pledges aren’t new either, I remember having to sign one at a nj school in the 80’s.

What it has to do is how the school is functioning and the actions they are taking.

I never recall signing a document saying I was telling the truth about an incident that occurred or being taken into an office to discuss what I saw.

A pledge to not bully is very different than a statement and a child being told they are signing a document that states they are telling the truth about what they told or there could be punishment later.

Nothing to fear, they paused this radical initiative until after the midterms! Rolling Eyes

The Dems are the ones running around canceling everyone and ruining peoples lives if someone says something they don’t agree with.

You think not wanting 2nd graders to be taught progressive gender ideology is "sexually repressed"?
