I think the results are based on Matt’s work, the national election, half the voters turning out and on Joe not doing any type of campaigning at all. I imagine more than half our town has no idea who he is. Now how much is assigned to each is debatable.

Odd year in Cranbury compared to past Presidential elections.

For a large national election the turnout was low.

Looking at the last five presidential elections.

The Dem TC candidates usually equal or better the Dem President. 2008 was the only one where the a Dem TC member lost like this year and that year the campaign had both candidates actively campaigning pulling votes. This year was in essence a one candidate race.

In 2020 the Dem Candidate was below the President and given how poor Trump did the TC should have followed with a larger or equal vote to Biden. That was not the case and there is no clear mandate and/or some degree of concern given Joe did absolutely nothing and got over 600 votes.

The first time a Republican gained material votes with mail in after election day. A couple of years ago Wayne won election day and lost on mail in.

The data is below and it is interesting to see how 2020 compared to prior.

2020
Biden had 1,246 votes
Trump had 495 votes

Matt had 1,141- pretty well below the Dem Pres
Joe had 613- More than than Rep Pres

Now if you look at the last Presidential Elections. You see the TC candidates who are Dems usually mirror the Dem candidate or exceed their votes:
