I so agree !!!!!!!!!!!!
Get over it...You live on MAIN STREET...not OFF THE BEATEN PATH STREET...you chose to live on a Main Street! Deal with the traffic and noise. Otherwise move to a dirt road in Georgia. |

Why should anyone have to "deal" with ILLEGALLY MODIFIED bikes that are BREAKING THE LAW? Tell it to the teachers who's classes were disrupted for over 3 hours today. Tell it to people who work on Main St. Tell it to the parents of the sick kid who was trying to sleep. |

The poster said nothing about outlawing bikes. They objected to people who were riding illegally modified bikes. The only purpose of those modifications is to create loud noise. It's not about preventing someone from riding a motorcycle, its about not having them force everyone else to listen to their intentionally loud motorcycle when they could ride it just fine without the extra noise. It's absolutely no different than those people who modify their cars to have super loud boomboxes and cruise with the windows done and their are ordinances against that too. Constitutional Law supports this concept. " Your right to swing your arm ends when it hits my face." They have the right to their motorcycles, just not to forcing everyone to listen to intentionally modified extra noise.
According to the previous poster, these people didn't just roll in for 2 minutes, they kept their engines roaring for several hours. If true, its reasonable that people would complain. |

It is pretty obvious you're just an A-Hole anyway, so your proposed behavior is not surprising. Fortunately you're in the extreme minority in this Township, assuming you even live here, which isn't likely.
The OP (or someone) followed-up with the exact language from the Township ordinance on why it was illegal:
“All motorized vehicles of any type, including automobiles, motorcycles, mopeds, motorbikes, trailbikes, trucks and tractors, shall be permitted to be operated in the township only if they are equipped with mufflers or sound-restricting devices similar in nature. Any operator of a vehicle which does not have a muffler or sound-restricting device of similar nature shall be subject to a fine not to exceed $100.”
You’re the one that needs a life. Most of us are content to respect our fellow citizens and the quality of life in our Township without the need to be obnoxious just to draw attention to ourselves like those who modify their bikes to make more noise. “Hey, look at me, I’m driving a really loud bike! I’m so cool!” Of course it’s really just a front for their own self-sense of inferiority. |

I had a feeling that was behind this. One of these bitter pills who resents and shows open hostility for anyone who isn't from a multi-generational family here. You’re better than everyone else, change is bad, yada yada.
Unlike you who clearly goes around with a massive chip on your shoulder, most of us still think this is a great town (with a blue ribbon school), despite the occasional negative undertone of petty people like you.
Good luck to you and try not to let all your pent up anger give you a stroke. |

Please note that these illegal modifications are designed to basically amplify the sound of the exhaust. The pipes are "tuned" so they result in a louder sound than the motorcycle would have it had no exhaust pipes at all.
As for the reason these idiots do this, here is the answer:

Wow how arrogant. The motorcycles were in town as a tribute to Mr.Nobile who was a benevolent member of this community for over 40 years. None of bikes had illegal modifications. They all had mufflers. Mr Nobile contributed tremendously to many aspects of this town for 4 decades. The bikes were a fitting tribute to a man who gave so much to Cranbury.By the way the fire trucks and police cars were also fitting. What is more destructive to the peaceful ambiance of Main Street is that chaotic school crossing that happens twice a day 5 days a week. 600 kids, parents, staff, and people going to the town hall through a one way in and out bottle neck? Not to mention Main Street traffic backed up as far the eye can see. Who ever designed this mess must have been blind. |

Totally agree - I thought it was a great tribute to Mr. Nobile and very fitting. The people who were riding the bikes into town were also men who own businesses in the surrounding areas and to note: the bikes were not illegal at all. It was just a few guys paying respects, rode their bikes into Cranbury and out! God Bless George Nobile. RIP!
Feel very sad to the people in this town that have no respect for others and have to complain about everything. If I were you I would be happy to be alive and count my blessings everyday! |

The leaf collection truck is very loud. Let's not have leaf collection anymore. Too loud. Same with the branch chipping truck. Too loud. Let's run them out of town. |

LOL - and I do not think the fire trucks should use their sirens...We have to think of the infants or children who are sleeping in town. And we DONT want people to think its the end of the world....
Also - I think we should post signs coming into town that you cannot enter if you have a loud vehicle |

Yes! Let's get rid of leaf collection, garbage collection, those horrible bikes, my crappy neighbors who use those leaf blower thingies. What else? Crying babies! Barking dogs!
Maybe it's easier to buy earplugs. |

There is a huge difference between things that emit noise due to the nature of their operation or biology (leaf blowers, garbage collection, babies, dogs, etc.) and devices that are modified to make as much noise as possible for the sole purpose attracting attention so people will notice them. It's obnoxious. I can't believe the twisted logic in saying that anyone should "live with" this noise. I feel sorry for people that need attention so badly that they resort to this sort of thing (same goes for thumping car stereos, tuned pipes on cars, etc.) It's just childish and inconsiderate. That is why there are laws against it. |
