BTW, If you all think it's a big deal, then why not go to a TC meeting? Attend the fire meeting every other Tuesday, talk to a volunteer member in town about your concern or email Mr. Taylor- his email address is jtaylor@cranbury-nj.com or call Town Hall and speak with the administrator or clerk- 609 395-0900. That would seem more useful, unless you just want to vent.

I find the sounds of the fire horn late at night to be rather soothing and it has a calming effect on both my young children and older pets.

More selfish people comment on the fire and EMS horns. My advice be glad it's not your house on fire or your child laying on the floor turning blue.

I wish those posters who post complaints would go away. Maybe they should get a hobby. There is so much more important things that could be complained about than a fire horn.

I wonder what the solders over in Iraq or Afghanistan are complaining about right now as you lay down in your comfy bed for the night?

Problem is ...that we tout this forum as a way to get news, to share, and just when someone has a different opinion that touches a nerve, then they don't have the right to post. bizzare.

Another theme that pops up now and then on this forum is - I don't want the community to change. Well change is inevitable. We are not a museum. We are a community that grows and changes.

Depends on what you mean by change. If you move into a town you do so knowing what it has to offer. There are many other towns to choose from where you can move and get what you want to get. No one forces anyone to live in a specific town. It's like the movement by people in Robbinsville to close the airport due to noise or those who live near a turnpike because it's cheap and then want the town or state to put in sound barriers at millions of dollars of cost to the tax payers.

Why is it that it's ok to shut off the rescue siren at9pm ?why can't you shut off the fire siren at 9 pm also? I don't need to be woke up in the middle of the nite,I have many smoke alarms in my own house to wake me up if my house is on fire. I don't need to know that a house somewhere else in town is on fire.

That is just one fine attitude to have. It is great that you do not think about anyone else but you and your family. Hope you move out soon to someplace that is better suited to you than this nice town. I for one do not want someone with your attitude living around me.
BTW it is "night" not "nite".

I hear the residents at Elm's nursing home find the fire horn late at night rather soothing and relaxing.

It has nothing to do with anyone's business. It has everything to do with wanting your fellow neighbor to get the assistance he needs as soon as he/she needs it. Rather than simply saying how disturbed you are by the siren going off. That is what everyone is pointing to in your posts. You don't care if someone gets the help, just don't disturb you.

This isn’t about expressing an opinion or touching a nerve, this is about starting a new post on the same exact topic that had already been covered in great detail before. What they posted added absolutely nothing to the existing dialogue.

I participate in a lot of forums and on almost any of them when someone repetitively starts new topics on exactly the same issue already covered in others the community is negative about it. This exact issue has been debated at length from all sides before, recently.

The fire whistle has be active in this town in some form or other since 1898. Yes we do have pagers and radios but this is a back up system a fail safe if you will... the first aid horn has been active since 1957... The fire alarm is meant to wake you smoke alarms do not always work and it may be your neighbors house on fire (if anyone cares about their neighbors in this town any more) you may want to help if needed...
Sorry for the inconvenience but the fire fighters and first aid members children are awaken in the middle of the night by the pagers and radios I dont think it has hurt them and for some reason they tend to become emt's and firefighters when they are old enough...
by the way we are at the fire house every monday evening and our meeting is the last thursday of the month SUCK IT UP!!!!
