What a mess this is, hopefully they finish this soon. Although it would of been better if it had never started. |

Haters gonna hate... Personally I'll reserve judgment after I actually see the result. |

Wow, a construction project that is dirty and messy during the process. This is unheard of. Who is overseeing a project that allows digging to create dirt and mud? I blame the TC and the founding members of Cranbury for this outrage. If Cranbury we're never established we'd have no high taxes, TC to blame or messy beautification project. No, I blame the monarchies in Europe. For if they didn't want land they never would have colonized here and Cranbury would not have had the chance to exist.
Seriously, if the brick work by the school is an indication I think it will look very nice when done and the volunteers who worked hard on this should be recognized as I can't recall a more impacts up project in recent memory. |

WHile on this topic, what's the status of the sidewalk extension on Old Trenton that was also awarded a grant at least as far back at the Main Street project? |

I heard summer this year. There was something that complicated the funding as it was a federal grant and not a state or county grant. |

The Beautification of Main Street is lunacy, first we are loosing parking places , snow removal is hampered, unless the entire street scape is done the the town will look like a time warp in someone's half baked idea of cool. It amazes me the a bunch of new wannabes want to reshape the very things that attracted and brought them here! Do we still have a board or more money than brains!!
|

Considering two of the TC members are natives and one is married to one I think it is highly unfair to say it is new residents.
Second, as anyone can see this year the plows only do the middle of Main St. The county doesn't shovel out parking spaces so I doubt there will be any difference. On parking I have no idea, but it doesn't seem much if any is affected.
I read the historical society newsletter last night and 100 years ago they were asking for help to keep the dust and dirt down or Main St would be horrible to live and shop. I am sure some preferred dirt to what came next - wood, brick, slate. Then preferred that to concrete.
To me our downtown is a mush mash today. I'd gladly take a nice uniform look. |

Just wondering how many parking spots will be lost due to the "bump outs" |

Seems like the only spots lost were safety hazards before. The limited visibility from cars parked too close to the corners of Park Place and School House Lane have been a problem. |

When the new curbs are complete lets have the town see how fast a hook and ladder fire truck can make the turn in an emergency. Why we don't just make Main Street a predestrian way and have bicycles and ice cream be the theme. This way all the "cut through / short cut traffic could be diverted to old Trenton road at 5 pm going south and west and rt 130 going north at 7-8am.

|

However now trucks school buses and fire trucks will have to use both lanes of the road to make turns which creates a far greater risk of an accedent than before. |

I have a sedan and always had issues unless there were no cars parked. I don't drive an SUV that can see over things. I dreaded leaving school house lane or park place by the pizza place.
If a truck or bus is in the other lane (remains to be seen that will happen) and if you are approaching the large vehicle and see it is making a turn then stop and let it turn. Don't keep driving.
I doubt the bus or fire truck will turn into you if you are already at the intersection. In that case in order to hit a car in the other lane they'd need to turn directly head on into the other car. I think our bus drivers and firemen are smarter than that.
I worry more about cars not yielding to emergency vehicles or stopping at buses flashing red lights. |

For years parking on main st has always been an issue and now multiple parking spots are removed, this makes no sense. To the poster with the sedan, your view won't be any better making turns as now you have to creep farther up to see what's coming down the road. This is just ridiculous. |

Two spots were removed.
Now when I creep up I am protected. I went to town last night for ice cream. A large SUV was parked directly in front of Cranbury Pizza. I had no issue seeing on coming cars for the first time. In the past I'd creep up to the same spot, but because the SUV would have been closer the sight would be impaired.
Plus, didn't the TC just work with Sweetwater and get something like 10 new spots in their lot? I don't see the parking as an issue. |

Agreed. I have an SUV and turning onto Main from Park Place has been a problem for visibility and it's already better. 2 spots gone to improve public safety, especially when they have created far more spots than that overall is good work TC. Some people love to complain about everything. |
