Your rant is ridiculous. First of all, what ARE low-brow Republicans - people who believe the moon landing is fake and that pro-wrestling is real? That's a ridiculous statement.

As far as Sarah Palin, her appeal to many Americans (some of them I'm sure are cheap-beer-in-a-can drinking, but so what) is that she is for SELF SUFFICIENCY. She is a conservative who believes in God, which is not just a Republican value, despite some efforts by the GOP to at times present it that way. Her religion is Christian, which is not some sort of weird religious cult, but is the religion of more than 75% of Americans.

Many of the working poor and working class types who may benefit from government programs are still opposed to them and therefore don't use them, because of a belief that more government programs are NOT the answer, and that they are capable of taking care of themselves. We need more people in the US who support themselves, not more people who rely on the government for support.

Obviously, you've spent some time digesting the drivel, with not much effort, and started believing all of the crap about her that is spewed out to you on a daily basis.

In time, we will know (or maybe not!) who has been fleeced, and I don't think it's the people who agree with the hosts of conservative talk radio.

Frankly, Publius is getting old. Her (if my assumption of her/his identity is correct) rants are posted anonymously, indicating an unwillingness/inability to engage in civil debate. Sitting in front of a computer sending out inflammatory remarks without standing behind them is hardly a sign of intellectualism.

Best recourse is to ignore...

I just noticed publius uses the same name, but does not register. To me that indicates something right there about what she posts.

Why do you assume p. is a she? Just cruious...

I absolutely think they are baiting posts, looking for attention or a response...

That said, I don't agree with your opinion on Sarah Palin's appeal. Self sufficiency is a nice buzz word. I am all for it. But Palin's base is clearly not even Christian's as a whole but Evangelical Christains and other hardcore supporters of hot button issues like preventing any form of gun control or abortion. What makes her controversial for many other people, including many Christians, is her specific views that are not maintsream, such as wanting to force public schools to teach "intelligent design" (which would be a clear violation of church and state and pass a theological notion (it doesn't even tecnically qualify as a theory) off as science), her willingness to consider State censoring content that her church doesn't agree with, her continued support of a radical pastor who believes that anyone who is not a Republican is evil and that anyone who doesn't support Bush is going to Hell or her opposition to reasonable restrictions on guns like preventing just anyone from acquiring assault rifles. You can be all for self sufficiency and not care at all about her "experience" or lack thereof and still be troubled by the idea of such a person being in the ultimate position of authority. This is why she is polaizing even within her own party. There are plenty of white, Christian Republicans who are for small government and self sufficiency who are troubled by what she represents.

P.S.
Palin is just a half-step away from being a snakehandler!
Christian, Shmistian.........I LOVE how loosely that term, Christian, is bandied about.
There are dozens of versions, each of which has it's strange quirks and idiosyncratic beliefs. I can start my own religion, so long as I get enough nutbags to follow me, and i can get tax exempt.........I'm in business!
Like that cult in Utah who wanted THEIR OWN version of the 10 commandments placed in a public park. The case just came before the Supreme Court recently. They believe that aliens came down to earth and gave Moses some secret knowledge, that, of course, only THEY had access to.
OY VEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wish that people would keep their religion at home, behind closed doors. It's embarassing for the rest of us to see in public.

Hello again.

The cult in Utah is called Summum. Google them. IT IS HILARIOUS!

You could make this stuff up, but, nobody would ever believe it.
I believe in a 6 foot tall, white bunny named Harvey. He first appeared to The Prophet, Jimmy Stewart in 1940!!!

All bow to Harvey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
