This kids crossing the highway to get to WaWa is such a bogus excuse. I do believe there are children who live in East Windsor & hightstown, I do not see children crossing the highway in that town to go to Mcdonalds, wawa, taco bell, wendys etc... do you?? yes, maybe there might be 1 or 2 ...

...and who cares if a couple stupid kids get run down anyway! As far as I'm concerned, we've got too many kids in this town anyway. Plus, its called survival of the fittest. Any kid stupid enough to try to cross Route 130 deserves to get run down.

I would have loved th have a WAWA at the corner of RT 130 and Station Road. It would have made my families' lifs so nice. Now listen to why it didn't happen in our small little community. Enjoy!!!

I second that - I would have loved the WaWa also. I grew up in Cranbury my whole life. We used to ride our bikes to East Windsor. I guess the people who do not want the WaWa should start complaining about all the businesses in EW so their kids do not go to them. What a BS excuse to not have a wawa!!! Well one day i bet there is going to be nothing you crazy parents can do and we will have a wawa Smile

I don't see why we can't try and get a deli or WaWa on Main St. We used to have a Cumberland farms. That is the same as a WaWa and in fact Cumberland had a big sign on Main St.

A small strip mall would be great on the corner of Old Trenton and South Main Street.
This land is for sale also and would make a great Wawa location.

The problem is that a strip mall would have to be very carefully designed in that location because it is part of the historic district. You could not put up an East Windsor- CrockaDeli or 7-11 type strip mall there, it would have to be designed within the character of Main St. That would be fine, but could be expensive for the builder which means it may not be feasible to do.

I would support this building, but would not support the relaxing of the historic district standards.

My understanding is that one of the reasons for the restrictions on retail along Route 130 is to increase the likelihood that retail businesses will develop and thrive along Main St.

There are retail stores along 130. Does anybody really know why the WAWA on 130 aand Station Rd was nixed. It would have been so convenient. Was it simply NIMBY? We can change that with education

Only Light Industrial and Manufacturing is zoned along 130. The few retail stores that are there the liquor store and the pool place strip mall were done long ago and received variances. The town has a master plan defining what uses are zoned where. Retail has always been zoned on Main St to try and increase retail in the village and make it so people would have walkable businesses.

Sounds like you are an apologist for all this. All night people are in and out of the gas stations that line Rt 130. We don't need any more gas stations.. We need a good convenience store that we can pick up a few thing now and then – sometimes late at night. We had a small little grocery store on Main Street - that often closed early. And didn’t carry popular items. The community doesn't seem to want to support an establishment like that any more. Nor do I think they will support a WAWA on Main street that’s open all night and will need some type of parking

If the reason the WAWA was nixed is not NIMY, then we need to make some changes

I am not sure who you are responding too. However, if it is about my posting of zoning it has nothing to do with being an apologist. I was explaining why this is not the case. There is a Master Plan that is reviewed by the PB and approved by the TC. The ZB then makes rulings for variances within the confines of this plan. It is not whether person A wants something and B does not. It is whether it fits in the confines of the law or whether the law should be modified.

A strip mall on Hagerty's property (South Main)? No way. There will be a major NIMBY fight on that one, which I will lead.

The Business Association will fight any retail development outside of the existing Main Street Historic district. They are scared to death of the competition. However they have done noihing to promote new viable businesses from coming in.

Why? How would this effect you? There are few houses in that area and there already was a business there and still Cheanny's is operating there also.

Why would you needlessly attack a person who is simply trying to share information about the process? This is the kind of BS that gives this site a bad name.

Let’s get rid of the noise.

How can we get a 24 hour WAWA on RT 130 and Station Road. . It will be convenient for the residents, won't make noise at night for residents in town, can have ample parking and would draw sufficient number of people to make it a profitable

How can we get that done?
