If you go down past the swim club soon as you enter East Windsor the limit goes up to 40. After 571 it goes to 50mph . Heading toward town after you cross Main it goes up to 40mph. So it does not make sense that it had to be 35mph. Even 40 on that road is too slow. Cranbury neck Rd is 50 and there are no shoulders, Plainsboro Rd is also 50, Dey Rd is 45mph, and by far the most dangerous. So someone please tell me who is responsible for this. |
Have you not read all the previous posts? NO ONE in Cranbury asked for or wanted it to be 35 MPH. they asked for 40, which is exactly what the road already is both before and after this stretch. A 40 MPH limit effectively means you go 45 MPH which should be plenty. Middlesex County officials believed the regulations required they stick with 50 MPH or go to 35 MPH despite many, many examples of other roads being changed to 40 MPH around here.
BTW, Cranbury Neck is no longer 50 MPH. Didn't you notice they took down the signs that used to announce the 50 MPH and at the other end, by Grovers Mill they replaced the "End Speed Zone" signs with ones that gradually increase the speed limit to 40 MPH. | Yes Cranbury Neck is still 50. |
By that logic, Old Trenton is still 50 MPH. Cranbury Neck is still 50 MPH for a brief stretch of a few miles between Wynnewood and George Davison Road. It is 40 MPH after that, reduced from 50 MPH, then 30 then 25 from the park until it ends. Overall it is 50 MPH for a minority of its distance. Old Trenton remains 50 MPH for more of its distance than Cranbury Neck does. |
George Davison is the border between Cranbury and Plainsboro, Wynnewood is the end of the Village. That "Brief stretch" is about 2 miles. That is longer than OTR from Main Street to West Windsor. I think one can safely say the speed limit on Cranbury Neck is 50 mph. |
You're funny with your arbitrary distinctions. You can spin it any way you want. Set up enough criteria -- it only counts in Cranbury Township limits, this one is slower for more feet than than one -- and you can fabricate a logic all your own to prove your worldview. Enjoy your private little world. Bottom line is that things change, including street speeds. There are plenty of examples right here in Cranbury over time, including that other section of Old Trenton from Main to Route 130. No one's complaining about that now because it happened a long time ago and now it is what it is. Someday the same will be said of this latest change and the people who somehow get satisfaction out of complaining about everything will have moved onto a dozen other issues.[/quoteThe reason people are on here complaining is because of a few complainers to begin with.I for one will no longer go to cranbury, I will not spent my money in a town where no respect is shown to it's citizens. Cranbury politics are a joke I have lived in this area for a long, long time, longer than any of you have, Cranbury has lost all my respect in the last ten years. |
You are obviously a little slow. The speed limit on Cranbury neck Road outside of the village in Cranbury is 50 mph. This has morphed into a question on the speed of Cranbury Neck outside of Cranbury. That is a valid discussion. The question was what was the speed in Cranbury. |

The speed limit on Cranbury Neck Road in Plainsboro is 50 mph. I live on the road, Cranbury side, but pulled over to ask the Plainsboro cop who always hangs out past Stults Farm. |

First the pulled down all the 50 miles per hour signs, including the ones that had been on the road in Cranbury. Why did they take the trouble to remove them? Now they've put up the 40 miles per hour signs in West Windsor and expanded the 25 mile zone where it used to say end speed zone. |

So there I was this morning, driving down OTR doing 35 MPH when lo and behold up pops a speed sign indicating 85 MPH. It was apparent that someone took to a spray can to voice his/her discontent over the new speed limit. There was also a painted sign on the return home. Now, 35 is by no means my favorite number, but to stoop to the level of sign painting to change the number is highly irresponsible and a callous disrespect for safety. Oh, did I mention that my fave number for OTR would be 45? |

I saw Stout and Obama out there last night. They told me they were carrying cans of deodorant spray (like the Fresh Prince), but now that you mention it I've never seen black deodorant spray before. Seems suspicious! |

I saw this also today. How disgusting this person is who did this. It makes Cranbury look like a ghetto. I hope this person is happy how their juvenile ways make the area and town look like ghetto trash. This is not the way I want people who travel through Cranbury to perceive it.
I cannot believe some hooligan would make us look so bad ! Maybe if they read this they will go out and scrub the signs clean ! |

I hope the kid(s) is/are prosecuted. The paint can't be washed off so new signs have to be put up which costs us money.
Funny thing is as soon as the kid is caught the parents who are not paying attention now, will suddenly scream about unfairness. |

I wouldn't assume it was a kid. It could easily be the person in this forum who was actively encouraging people to break the law and was spewing a bunch of vile and hate. They clearly wouldn't have any quams about vandalism. |

Sorry to be petty and point this out. But this is the kind of subtle nastiness that this forum has devolved to. The assumption that if it was a kid there parents will scream about unfairness. This might be followed by a comment about the problems of Liberal/ or Conservative parenting. Then off we go to the races.
My bet is this vandalism has nothing to do with this board. I hate to break it to everyone, but there are very few of us reading these posts. Whoever did the vandalism may or may not be from Cranbury.
This thread is silly. First it started out that the world would end if the speed on the road isn't reduced. Now the world will end because the speed has been reduced too much.
I actually did not think the speed needed to be reduced. Now that it has been reduced, I don't think it will inconvenience me much at all. It has been reduced for about a 2 mile stretch of road. Going from 50 to 35 will add maybe 30 seconds to my commute. This is not a big deal. |

C'mon people - there are very very few who read these posts.... The person who did that to the signs probably had nothing to do with it. And calm down - just becasue a few signs have spray paint on them does not mean Cranbury is now Ghetto - LOL - take a breath - there are a few more important things in this world to worry about then perfect little Cranbury having a few spray painted signs.... Yes, it is wrong - and should not have been done and will cost us money - but if this is the WORST thing that happens in Cranbury - we should be thankful that this is IT!!! |

I doubt it is the worst thing happening in Cranbury, but it does look like heck. I hope the person responsible is prosecuted but they will probably get a slap on the wrist for making this part of town look horrible !
Parents question your kids and pass the hooligan's information onto the police. I hope these shannanegins will stop. |

If you don't like the old trenton new speed limit, call middlesex county department of engineering and let them know that the change is completely ridiculous. Ask them to do speed studies on the road. Ask them to do studies on Plainsboro and Cranbury Neck roads coming into Cranbury; 25 is way too slow. Visibility is high in these areas and I shouldn't have to slow down to the same speed as in my cramped neighborhood. 35 or 40 will do. |
