Two outstanding women have stepped up to run this year for township committee--although chosen by different political parties, their platforms are essentially the same. Previous posters from both parties are pulling the usual ugly political games-name calling, lying, judging- you name it. It's just awful to read. It certainly doesn't help (us) voters to get to know the candidates better.
So, in the spirit of positive and constructive comments, I'm posting to tell you about Susan Goetz, a person I've known for a long time. Susan is a loyal friend, a wonderful mother, an animal lover and an environmentalist--- passionate and loving to all. Her deep roots in Cranbury are so important to her; it's a place where she and her family have been nurtured and protected. Susan's committment to serve our community is her way of giving back. She understands the importance of the Township Committee in maintaining the beautiful town in which we live.
This poem by Ralph Waldo Emerson reminds me of Susan, in better words that I can ever express....
"To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded".
No matter what happens on Nov 8th, my friend Susan will hold her head high....and, to both candidates, I offer kudos for stepping up to run for this incredibly important job. |
