He stated at the TC meeting that he felt the surplus was not at risk by raising taxes by half a cent or one cent. In fact Monday night he said clearly his vote was not that he felt taxes should not be increased, but that the level was what he disagreed with. He also I believe said in another Press article that looking at our contracts, services and bringing in new business should be a focus. Again, Monday night he said they would look at alternative providers for Electric as he spoke with Jamesburg and found they saved thousands by doing this.

Now, in my view I look at it like my own spending. If something costs X I may be willing to pay X plus 1 for it. However, there comes a time when I think the item is simply too expensive. I think Mr. Taylor took that same approach with the budget. He saw the decline in surplus and ratables so decided the rate should be increased as much as one cent. When it got higher he felt it was too expensive. To me it shows he gave thought and did not simply go with the crowd or take a no tax increase position.

I have a rock in my yard.
Some times I see it basking in the sun.
Some times I see it soaking in the rain.
I don't understand how on some days it is a dry rock,
And on other days it is a wet rock.
So I call my rock "flip flop rock".
