Cranbury school making sure technology kept up to date
CRANBURY — Every day, students in Cranbury School work through math problems and book reports with the help of computers. They take notes from projection screens linked to PC's and Macs.
Technology is everywhere, and in the schools it is helping students to learn at a faster rate than ever before.
Cranbury School Systems Manager Daniel O'Brien gave a presentation to the school board Sept. 19 to talk about the state of the district's technology program, and improvements the district hopes to make in the year ahead.
Since September 1994, the Board of Education has worked toward offering up-to-date computers to the students in the classrooms and in the computer lab.
According to Mr. O'Brien's presentation, this year the school will focus on improving the mobile labs, and installing additional projection set-ups, as demand has increased.
The new projection set-ups are mounted into the ceiling and the images are cast onto a screen that teachers can roll down in front of the class. The projectors can be connected to a teacher's laptop or desktop computers.
