Tips on how to protect items in your office

Cranbury police said three thefts that occurred at businesses in town serve as an example of why people need to protect their valuables, even in the work place.

Between Dec. 7 and Dec. 12, two wallets were stolen from women's purses at Rhodia, a chemical company located on Cedar Brook Drive, and one was stolen from a woman's purse that was under a desk at the Crate and Barrel Outlet on Half Acre Road, police said.

All of the victims' credit cards have since been used at different business locations in the area, police said, and an investigation is under way.

Cranbury police Capt. Ed Kahler said the police do not know if the incidents are related.

"It's more than likely that it was the same person at Rhodia," he said. "We're not sure about Crate and Barrel at this time."
