After months of sifting through resume piles and weeks of interviewing candidates, the Cranbury Board of Education has chosen a new chief school administrator to replace Carol Malouf, who will retire at the end of June.
On Tuesday, the board introduced John Haney, 49, of Hopewell, as Ms. Malouf's successor and appointed him to the position at a salary of $128,000.
Ms. Malouf announced her retirement in June 2006, effective June 30, 2007. She has been with the district since 1978, serving the last six years as chief school administrator. She earned $148,830 this year.
Mr. Haney currently works as principal of Clinton Public School, a K-8, single-school district in Hunterdon County — similar to Cranbury School. He will officially start on July 1.
School board President Joan Rue said the board, which began the search process in January, reviewed more than 40 resumes and interviewed nine candidates, before narrowing the choice down to a final four. The process was exhausting, but she said Mr. Haney is the right man for the job.
