Click It or Ticket initiative to be inforced in coming weeks.
Seat belts save lives and the Cranbury Police Department is gearing up to help drivers remember that.
On Monday, the department will begin Click It or Ticket, an annual statewide initiative to make sure drivers and passengers buckle up before hitting the road. The program, which runs through June 3, includes stepped-up enforcement to encourage seat belt use and raise statewide usage from 90 percent to 92 percent, according to a press release sent out by the Cranbury Police Department.
"Seat belts do save lives and that's why we like to get onboard with this campaign," Cranbury Police Sgt. Frank Dillane said Tuesday, adding that New Jersey has an excellent rate of seat belt use compared to other states. "We're one of the highest in the United States for compliance. New Jersey's always pushing for 100 percent compliance."
