Township Engineer "99 percent sure" aide will come for Petty Bridge
Cranbury is expecting to get help from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to repair the Petty Road bridge, which was damaged in April's nor'easter.
Township Engineer Cathleen Marcelli said Monday that she's "99 percent sure" the township will get money from FEMA to fix the bridge.
The township applied for a FEMA grant that would cover the full cost of construction, which could be more than $50,000, Ms. Marcelli said. She said that the township will not get word about whether or not the grant is approved until private contractors provide an estimate of the exact cost of repairs. She said she expects that the grant will cover the full cost of repairs.
Residents who use the bridge have been forced to use alternate routes since April 16, when 7 inches of rain caused a number of areas in the township to flood.
