I saw in the Cranbury Press fireworks at 8 pm on July 5th. Does anyone who has been in the past know if the fireworks really start at 8 pm? It seems it's not even dark yet. I've got little kids and we'd like to see the fireworks but not necessarily wait for hours beforehand. Thanks!

You are right. The fireworks likely will not start around 8pm because it's not dark yet. I think it's a good idea to arrive early so that you can park your car nearby and find a good spot for your family. It's a popular event.

Where is the best place to view the fireworks? Is it from Village Park or another section of town?

Village park is a good place. Another one is on the sidewalk of Main Street near the Brainerd lake. If you plan to get there by car, parking before the event and the traffic jam after the event are things to consider. Wink

Yes, the rain date is Friday, July 6th. I hope that it's not going to rain today...

With a 70% chance of thunderstorms (some severe) and a nice looking night tomorrow, it might be better to change it now.

Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before midnight. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Patchy fog after midnight. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 68. West wind between 5 and 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Does anyone have an answer on the posted 8pm start time? Obviously that can't be the real start -- it must be at least 9pm. But we just want to know the real time to plan with our kids, etc. Also, if their concert is from 6-8, what are they doing for the hour-plus between the concert and the real start time? Why wouldn't they just start the concert later to go to closer to the show time?

Based on my previous experience, the fireworks show does not start precisely at 8pm or 9pm. It starts at dusk, when the sunlight is weak enough for the fireworks to be seen from afar. This is just common sense.

The wait time is not a total waste. The kids can play with other kids nearby; the adults can chat. I consider it a quality time with the kids and the friendly town folks. Wink
