Cranbury needs volunteers for boards

CRANBURY— Cranbury Township is looking for qualified candidates to fill vacancies on various township boards.

The boards with open positions are the Clock Winding Committee, the Historic Preservation Committee, the Environmental Commission and the Shade Tree Committee.

The Historic Preservation Committee has two vacancies for alternate board members with terms lasting one year. The duty of the committee is to identify a system for the survey and inventory of all buildings, sites, places and landmarks of historical and architectural significance. The committee also advises the Planning Board on the inclusion of historical sites and landmarks.

To serve on the Historic Preservation Committee, a candidate must be a citizen of the municipality who holds no other municipal office position except membership on the Planning Board or Zoning Board of Adjustment. Alternate board members participate in the discussion on issues but can’t vote unless a regular board member is absent or disqualified.
