I saw some houses sold for $1 in pshark.com. I would like to buy a dozen! Why did the owners sell for $1? |

I've seen this data on PShark and other sites that show recorded sales. My guess is they reflect some combination of estate transfers and/or refinancings. |

We sold a home twice for one dollar in our family. One time it was a death and another time it was a friendly divorce. We also have friends that sold a home worth over 700,000 for 100,000 to their grandson's family. The price they had paid. So these sales need to be thrown out when doing comps (as anyone would imagine.) |

Perhaps, it was a birdhouse? |

Yes, these are simply transfers and I think its usually $1 as that is probably the smallest amount you can transfer with. |
