CRANBURY — All three school board members up for re-election are stepping down and with time running out, the board has yet to receive a single application as of Thursday, for its April elections.
”I’m told not to worry because at the very last day people will be dropping them off,” said Joyce Picariello, the school business administrator, who was hired in November.
All three of the seats up for grabs are three-year terms and the deadline to apply is Monday at 4 p.m.
The three incumbents Elizabeth Silverman, Kenneth Griffin and Frank Ransegnola will remain official members until the reorganization meeting in April.
Ms. Silverman, 54, said she’s done her duty after three terms on the board and feels the school board is ready for some “new blood”.
”I’ve been on for 9 years,” she said. “I finished my third term, I think it’s enough.”
Mr. Griffin, 48, said he isn’t seeking re-election because of work.
”My job is challenging and I have a lot of night meetings related to my appointment (at work),” he said.
Mr. Griffin said he has been on the board for seven years, initially with a one-year appointment followed by two terms.
Third incumbent, Mr. Ransegnola, 45, said he decided not run because juggling work, family and his responsibilities on the board was just too taxing.
