CRANBURY — Attention out-of-towners: If you want to play ball on township fields, you’re going to have to pay up.
That’s because the Township Committee passed a resolution Feb. 25 that established regulations and fees for the use of the township’s athletic fields.
Although all Cranbury-based groups and residents are exempt from paying fees to obtain permits, other nonrecognized teams and programs, such as the Central Jersey Baseball League or Life Skills Through Soccer, will have to pay.
According to a fees chart, residents, Cranbury’s Recreation Department’s organizations and specific township-recognized sports and school programs are exempt from the fees.
Fees can range from $25 for a single game on a smaller field to $750 for a seasonal permit for a nonrecognized team on a larger field.
These regulations have already gone into effect for approximately 10 fields in three separate parks. These parks include Millstone Park on Old Trenton Road, fields on the West Property located behind the Cranbury School and Village Park on Maplewood Drive.
