Reading all of these posts really makes you think. I have been a resident in Cranbury for over 65 years - My grandparents and parents have been long term resiidents also. It is funny how some, not saying all, people come to this small town and just want to take over. Over the years I have met some very very nice new residents for the most part. But there are those people who think that because they have money they can say or do whatever and with that said, they think they own this town. Sorry but it has been here long before some of these arrogant people have and it will always be here. This town was such a nice town before some of these people came and tried to make it another Princeton - building their HUGE houses and wanting MORE AND MORE.... Now my friends the ORIGINAL cranburians cannot afford to move here and raise their children. VERY VERY SAD.... But we have the people here that need the HUGE HOUSES AND BIG MORGAGES. Thanks people for wanting more and more - now look what you have done. Hope you are happy - and my friends - THIS IS WHAT GREED IS AND WILL DO TO THE WORLD...... No one can be happy anymore - people need more more and more!!!!!! It is so sad to see it end up this way!!!!

Sorry to say this - but who cares if you have lived here all your life? Do you think we care? We had and HAVE the money to live here. Sorry if your children and grandchildren cannot afford to live here anymore. Maybe you should have thought of that and got them a better education. I do not understand how someone can be mad at people that do have money and the big houses. Its is not our fault that we can afford these things and have a higher education or know how to handle our money. It should not be our fault that we can live here. Please get over the fact that we are here, we are staying and this town is changing.

First of all, with comments like that, it doesnt sound like you have to high of an educations. Second of all - more then likely it is your husband with the higher education making all the money and you are sitting home eating bon bons every day doing your "peg bundy" As far as people with money in this town, there are a lot of good people, unfortunatly there are the few like yourself that think that you are better then everyone else. I do really feel sorry for you if that is the way you want to go through life. Maybe with all of your money you should go see a shrink and go work out all your problems.

Dear neighbors, please calm down. Embarassed

Things will change over time, including your fortune. Let's not focus on money or house. Let's focus on your health. What to enjoy if you don't have good health. Let's focus on your relationship with the people you treasure most (e.g. your kids, spouse, friends, etc.). Good relationship with them will make you happy and satisfy with your life.

I believe most residents here are well to do and highly educated, regardless of what kinds of house in which they live. Here is something to share with you:

"Success is getting what you want; happiness is wanting what you get."

April Fools!

I assume none of the first few posts are real. The over the top opinions are just too stereotypical to be real.

I have to say I am disturbed by some comments and perplexed by others.

As I posted (some reason it showed as guest) in the other thread, Cranbury is a unique town. We have really managed to escape the attitude problems that a lot of other towns have in this state. Our residents in general are friendly, we're a town of mixed incomes and while it was more diverse with jobs 15, 20, even 50 years ago, it was a successful town. In fact the down town was thriving with a Pharmacy, Dry Cleaners (remember?), a market, a hardware store, Harold's, etc.. I could walk down town and get some quick errands done. The down town is different now and we've grown, but we're still a town that keeps an atmosphere of being neighborly.

I do understand that some new people have rather nasty attitudes, but I also know some old timers that are crotchity and scared the heck out of me as a child Smile. It's more human nature. What does concern one is how new and old mix. I do believe every tax payer has a right to express their view. However, just as a guest in another's home if you are new you should understand the society that you have joined and try to fit in rather than have the society or town adjust to meet your requirements. There are plenty of towns in NJ to choose from so when you move you should evaluate the society and town dynamics just as you would a school system or crime area.

In terms of housing costs it is very hard issue. Most towns have a range of housing and prices. In Cranbury the home values have increased dramatically. Now, I'd love to see more people I grew up with in town. However, when people sell a home they want dollars and they don't look (for the most part) at selling a home town discount to returning Cranburians. So it really is a catch 22. How do you provide affordable (not COAH, but affordable) housing without lowering some individuals home value.

In terms of education, I know people who have masters degrees and work for non-profits making less money than friends who work in trades with only a HS or a trade degree. An attitude of elitisim about someone's education or wages is not a respectful comment and shows one's arrogance.

Making comments like this only highlights your own insecurities and lack of self-esteem. Who cares what level of education you have? Who cares how much money you make? Who cares how much square footage you own? The majority of people would rather be around kind and decent people instead of people with a false sense of entitlement. The latter, such as you, are usually so uncomfortable in their own skin the only way they feel better are to put other people down.

And "locals" everywhere lament that their town is changing for the worse. Cranburians are no different. Population is growing and all these people have to live somewhere. Therefore, former farmland and apple orchards will have to be sacrificed. And when you allow developers to blight the land with ugly McMansions, you are going to attract a certain class of people. Thankfully, a national backlash against McMansions is rising and hopefully the country can start building more cottage communities with a greater sense of neighborhood.

Wow, this is really sad.... Yes, you can buy a house in any town and try to "change it and get a group of others together to change it", but who really has that mentality. That has to be the most obnoxious statement I have ever read on this website. I always thought people moved to a town because they liked it, not that they wanted to change it. But that must just be my mentality since I am a LIFE LONG resident and being such have never even thought of forming a group to change the town. I think it is VERY sad that this once small quaint town has gotten overrun with transplants from other states/ towns who have this "yuppie" complex. Hopefully your kids will be out of school soon and you can move to another town like Princeton and see about forming your take-over group there!!

Sounds like if this person is so much better then everyone else. Why not buy a whole town of your own? So sick of weird people like this. Probably see her standing on a stage next to her husband as he tells of all his sins and asks for forgiveness. Or maybe they think they have money like so many others. People like this are the reason this country is in such a mess. A dumb person could never could never get us into this much trouble. Just think a lot of sucessful smart poeple with money want an UNAMERICAN RACIST WITH A WIFE WHO IS EVEN MORE RACIST TO BE PRESIDENT.
