It is being reported online by the Press of Atlantic City that a local businessman will be ignoring the new Roberts/Lesniak 2.5% Affordable Housing fee which is part of the recently passed A-500/S-1783 legislation.

According to the report the business owner Ray Leps started developing his Yamaha motorcycle and personal watercraft dealership in 2005 and now that it is time to obtain his Certificate of Occupancy he is being required to pay $40,000 in Affordable Housing fees which were not present when he started the project.

In the article Mr. Leps was quoted as saying…

"If you opened a Yamaha dealership in North Carolina, you wouldn't pay taxes for 15 years,"

This is just another example of how detrimental the recently passed A-500/S-1783 Roberts & Lesniak affordable housing legislation is to business and suburban towns in New Jersey.
