Matt Rourke/The Associated PressIt's costing New Jersey motorists more at the gasoline pump, but not as much as motorists in neighboring states.

AAA Mid-Atlantic today said the average price of regular hit $2 in New Jersey. That's up from $1.87 a month ago but lower than $3.49 in 2008.

The last time gasoline cost $2 in the Garden State was Nov. 18.

The auto club said $1.47 per gallon on Jan. 2 was the lowest price in the Garden State this year.

AAA said the average price of regular costs $2.27 in New York, $2.26 in Connecticut and $2.14 in Pennsylvania.

AAA spokeswoman Tracy Noble said most indications point to gas prices remaining fairly close to where they are into the summer.
