Tonight's Planning Board meeting agenda lists the following item:
PB 138-07 The Blue Rooster Bakery
Block 23, Lot 109, Zone VC
17 North Main Street
Amended Minor Site Plan to allow outdoor dining, extend business hours and relief from original approval
However, if you read the Blue Rooster's website and Karen's blog, it sounds to me as if the decision has already been made:

I personally am not in favor of the extended hours and outdoor seating. I recall all too well the problems we had on Main Street with the noise at Hannah and Mason's and do NOT want a repeat performance from the Blue Rooster.
Is she just assuming this is a foregone conclusion or has it already been decided by the Planning Board? I really hope this doesn't pass, but, based it sounds to me like it's a moot point. |

Why do you assume it is a foregone conclusion and why are you against it exactly?
There is already outdoor seating and even longer hours for Terry's and Cranbury Pizza. This is a commercial zone -- the whole point is to encourage businesses, right? They currently only go to lunch and this is to go up through an "early dinner" so its not like its going to be keeping anyone up at night.
I hope it is approved and don't understand why they even need approval -- why does the Township not want to let a restuarant serve dinner? |

The Blue Rooster isn't in a "commercial zone". If you recall, they rezoned a residential property into commercial. It is smack in the middle of a residential area.
Teddy's and Cranbury Pizza are further down Main street where most of the later night businesses exist. Although, I wouldn't even include Teddy's in this group, since they close earlier than the 8pm time that the Blue Rooster is requesting.
I encourage their business, but not at the expense of my quality of life. They knew the "rules" of Main Street before they opened up and should be expected to abide by them. If they wanted to stay open later to serve dinner, they should have considered that in the very beginning. |

Your quality of life????? I dont think the BR being open until 7 or 8 is really going to affect your quality of life. What if your neighbors had a bbq everyday and had people over until 10 at night? Not much you could do about that right?? It is the same thing really!!!! |

I don't think allowing the Blue Rooster to stay open till 7 or 8pm is a quality of life issue. Our township's noise ordinance starts at 9pm. So a business that is open till 7 or 8 is no big deal. By the way, I doubt the Blue Rooster will bring in a rough and rowdy crowd at 7 or 8pm. |

The Blue Rooster has plenty of other businesses near it on Main Street, not just residents. Isn't it a given if you buy or rent a house on North Main Street between the Lake and at least Bunker Hill, if not Plainsboro that you are in an active mixed-use area with traffic and businesses? I don't understand people who buy in a place then thing the character of the place should change to accomodate them, whether it is a busy road, being near a highway or being on Main Street. |

The blue rooster will get what ever they want because the owners have a rubber stamp from the planning board. They operate on a different set of rules set forth just for them. They represented themselves as one thing and are operating as another. When they sell out, Cranbury and the pepole who live near the blue rooster will be left with a disaster. Even in the best of economic times, a restaurant like that would never last. Its just not that great. |

It's the Blue Rooster anonymous chip-on-their-shoulder poster back again... Wow, someone really really hates them and has such a sad life that they just can't get over it and move on... |

Thanks for the update, Karen. I hope you consider the residents of Cranbury when planning your extended hours. |

Well, it seems you do not like them personally. I wonder, if that was Cranbury Pizza in that location, would you still feel the same? Get my point? |

I personaly am not a fan of the BR.... but them staying open later and me living directly across the street does not bother me. Any business in town is not going to be open past 8 so its no big deal. The only business I ever remember being open pass then was that coffee shop. You people need to calm down a little. What happend to this town???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? |
