Roger Ebert said it nicely:

I don't know if "Ishtar" was clearly a disaster right from the first, but on the evidence of this film, I'd guess it quickly became a doomed project and that going to the set every morning was more like a sentence than an opportunity. It's said this movie cost more than $40 million. At some point, maybe they should have spun off a million each for Hoffman and Beatty, supplied them with their own personal camera crews and allowed them to use their spare time making documentaries about what they were going through.

Now it would be funny to watch that!

Seriously, folks, why's the movie being kept under wraps? We sort of need to know what the movie is before we can decide if we're going. If it's Wall-e, we're in, Night at the Museum, we're out. My kids are still at that age where certain movies are just too stressful.

Maybe they're planning the U.S. premiere of Girl with the Dragon Tattoo... Red carpet, evening wear, etc etc.

I agree 100%...Parent's can't plan on the evening for their kids w/o not knowing what the movie will be. Can someone from Rec let us know? Otherwise, we'll have to plan on NOT going.

Yeah !!!! Don't go, that will really show the Rec who's in charge. You can't be forced to try something new. Are you the parent or the child?

Whatever the movie is I am sure it is child appropriate. Has anyone contacted the Rec people at town hall to see what this movie might be?

As a monster, Elmo is shocked and dismayed by this grotesque and insensitive choice. Contrary to popular belief, many "monsters" are pacifists and we are outraged by the perpetuation of the "violent monster stereotype" in the media. I am warning you, Cranbury, change the movie, or you'll have Snuffleuffagous to deal with!

Elmo is going to draw a really nasty picture of Cranbury. The crayon is mightier than the sword!
