Right now, there are a bunch of Harley Davidson Motorcycles parked in front of the funeral home on Main Street. All of these bikes have illegal "straight pipes" that make them EXTREMELY loud. Ground-shaking, window-rattling loud. When they drove into town, it sounded like the world was ending, even from deep inside my house.

While it is unusual to have so many of these bikes in town at once, this is an ongoing problem.

This is illegal, unhealthy, and disrupts Cranbury's peaceful character. I wish the police would do something about it, but they seem to look the other way.

I would suggest that you call the police department and lodge a complaint. Complaining on here is not going to solve your problem. How do you know these pipes are illegal? Are you assuming or are you knowledgeable on this law? I am unfamiliar as to what the law says. As far as I know (guessing) the motorcycles have loud exhaust so they are noticeable to the cars on the roadway, for safety.
As for it being an ongoing concern, where? Once in a while a motorcycle drives by but I have not noticed packs of bikes coming through town except maybe on Rt 130.

WOW - I cannot believe this post..... The bikes are in town because George Nobile - a respected buisness man has passed away and his viewing is today. These people have rode their bikes into town to pay respect to Mr. Nobile since he was very into motor cycles. What is the big deal that they all rode in town for ONE day to pay their respects??? I cannot believe the nerve of some people in this town. Oh yeah, and try calling the cops too - thats funny because almost every single cop was down there yesterday paying their respects to. Shame on you poster complaining about something as silly as this! I feel bad for anyone who is involved with you and I hope karma comes right around and back at you one day!

I ride a bike myself and have never heard of a law against "straight" pipes. I even googled it and looked it up under NJ motor vehicle laws. There is no law that I can find.
If they are in town for a funeral for George Nobile then so be it. He was a great man and a great member of the Cranbury community !
Deal with the noise and show respect for the deceased.

Just a note: the original poster probably did not know the bikers are here for the viewing of Mr. Nobile.

Loud, speeding motorcycles are also a problem on Old Trenton Rd. They show up once a while, so it's tough to catch the riders.

But the original poster did say they were parked in front of the funeral home, common scense would make you think maybe they are parked in front of the funeral home for a reason?? I dont see bikers going to the blue rooster...

Exactly. Obviously the OP didn't know that and wouldn't have had any reason to know that. It's not like the whole town was following that event. So the amount of hate the first responder gave was way, way over the top. And its not such a crazy thing to complain about, really. The only criticism I would agree with is by the time they post here is is too late and they may have waited to see if it was more than a one time event. But no big deal.

Cranbury township code part 160-9 states:
Quote:
All motorized vehicles of any type, including automobiles, motorcycles, mopeds, motorbikes, trailbikes, trucks and tractors, shall be permitted to be operated in the township only if they are equipped with mufflers or sound-restricting devices similar in nature. Any operator of a vehicle which does not have a muffler or sound-restricting device of similar nature shall be subject to a fine not to exceed $100.

I'm sorry George died, but that's not a good reason to disrupt the whole town with this noise. And, it's illegal. Attending a funeral is not an excuse for breaking the law and bothering many, many people.

Well apparently the person does not care if anyone died.... they only care about themselves.... Hmm - wonder if something happend to your loved one if you would think any differnent... It was for one day!! I guess you might want to be out of town tomorrow for the funeral - the town will be packed with tow trucks, motor cycles etc.... you should go hide somewhere!!

1) Please read the first post. The poster said this is an ongoing problem. Today is an extreme example of it.

2) If something happened to a loved one, I would certainly not disrupt an entire town where people are living, working, babies sleeping, school in session, etc.

3) You are the one that is not caring about others... not surprising that someone who posts with such hate.

Get a life! there are so many other things that are going on in this world today that are more important than "loud motorcycles in Cranbury." I really can not believe that you took the time to write such a stupid complaint on the forum. I know for a fact that it is rare to have loud bikes ride through town. Honestly...get over yourself.

I live in Shadow Oaks near Old Trenton Rd. and I have to say this IS a problem. We are woken up by motorcycles in the middle of the night, and even at 5AM. It's even worse than the trucks.

Honestly as a third party in this-I don't live on Main Street and don't suffer from this problem-your the one who seems out of line. You seem very emotional and abusive toward the original poster on this issue. It doesn't seem unreasonable to complain about loud noises, especially if they are illegal. I can only assume you were close with the person the deceased and you have my sympathizes. But you are displacing your anger and frustration in the wrong place.

I cannot believe it. I just read on the Hells Angels website that they opened a new chapter based out of the old PNC Bank.
Hells Angels, Cranbury NJ chapter.

I have to agree with the person who said it isn't a big deal. What do you want to do outlaw motorcycles?? There are PLENTY of things that disrupt people, but you know what, you DEAL with them... I know that's a foreign concept to some of you... if you bought a house on Old Trenton Rd and are now complaining about the speed limit or the noise, DEAL WITH IT.... unless you were here before the road was built you knew what you were in for. And if the bikes were coming down Main St to the funeral home, how long did it actually take for them to get there?? 2 mins. at most.. was it really that horrible??? Sounds more like a hypochondriac to me.
