I respect that the volunteers of Cranbury contribute significantly to our community. However, this new set of blasts - which I assume is fire related? is BEYOND the scope of duty. It is 10:17PM on a Friday in a sleepy little town. Why is this necessary? |

If it were your house on fire would you still complain?
The siren is to alert the firemen about the fire call. If their pagers are not working or they do not have them with them, then this is the back up.
I for one can deal with the inconvenience because I know it happens once in a while and not on a regular basis.
Instead of complaining about noise, maybe complain the way that fire truck barrels through town for every call. |

I only question the length of the siren. I don't mind it going off and I actually like hearing it during the day. However, I do question the length of it at night. Plus, it is a lot louder than in the past. I live on Evans Tract and it is a lot louder than before. The only thing I'd ask is that they perhaps consider shortening the length from 2 minutes to one after 8pm. It seems like a dumb thing to ask, and I am being petty, but I have a young child who is not a good sleeper and know other parents who are in the same situation as we've discussed this the other day. When the new ambulance sound goes off like last night he wakes up and it kills us trying to get him back to sleep.
During the day when people are outside, doing work in the garage, yard, etc... I can understand a longer siren. But, at 10pm most people are in their homes and would be more likely to hear their pagers.
Now, this is not bashing those who volunteer. I wish I had the time like I used to have to volunteer in my old town. They should be thanked every moment for leaving their homes at all hours to help people. The siren is something different than the individuals and I am not sure the people volunteering even have the siren sound in their thought. It's probably just a matter of course because they are so busy with other things. I know in my old town we never thought of the siren one bit. |

So you're okay with the siren blasting at night (day is 100% fine). However, you're complaining about the trucks which are trying to get to the emergency as fast as possible? It seems the priorities are a bit off. There are pagers for the alert. However, the only options are take the time and let a house or building burn more or rush through town and get to the situation as fast as possible. |

I have no problem with "Rushing" at all. Sometimes it seems like the truck is being driven down Main Street just a little bit faster than it should be. Believe me I want them to get to my house as fast as possible if there is a fire, but I also do not want to see an accident.
I have seen a few times during the school dismissal the trucks come through town. It just seemed a little excessive, how fast they were going. Again I give all the volunteers a lot of respect. |

The only advise I have for you complainers is if you dont like where you live, then MOVE out... We live in a TOWN - not in a country - if you want QUIET - please move to the country where no one is around....
LOL - can you imagine living and NYC and you "complainers" complaining about the sirens and everything else??? haha- cracks me up....
Since I have been reading these boards all I EVER EVER read is complaints about every single thing. Glad to see what kind of people live in this town!!!!! |

"complain" or "discuss" a topic? It depends on your point of view. You know, in a communist country (e.g., N. Korea), your view is similar to those in charge of the communist country: no complains about the government. In fact, people are brain-washed to say only great things about their leaders and their government. |

I have to agree. I feel like this is not an issue that is being "discussed" you are all complaining about it. I think it is funny that everyone says that "I am not complaining about the volunteers." You DO know that it IS the volunteers that drive the firetrucks sooooo fast through town while responding to fire calls right? Come on people, please cut our men and women who volunteer their time a break. The members who drive the trucks have all been trained and are extremely good at what they do. It all goes back to if your house was burning would you want them to take their sweet time getting there?
About the new siren. I am sure it is louder for some people than others because the location has been moved but come on. How long did we live with old siren? It is part of Cranbury people. Maybe i can put it to you like this. Whenever you hear that siren going off that is "too loud" or "too long" think of the people in this town that are completely volunteering their time to help protect this community. Be thankful that there are still people that want to help other citizens out when there is a problem. And respect the fact that there might come a day when these volunteers have to risk their own lives to save yours. |

Hello all,
I spoke with the Fire and First Aid Squad about the siren. There was a Squad call last night, but unlike the Fire siren which is on 24 hours a day, the siren for the Squad should not go off after 9pm. They are working on the issue and I'd kindly ask people to please be patient as this is a brand new siren and we're working the bugs out. I understand the siren should only last 1.5- 2 minutes.
I apologize for any inconvenience or woken babies (we had one in our house too). I am happy to answer or bring forth any of your questions as I am the TC liason to the Fire and Fist Aid Squad. You can email me at: jtaylor@cranbury-nj.com.
Again, I thank you for your understanding and patience.

Here is a great idea. Instead of wasting your time on writing this fake story about a house burning to the ground because of the new siren, why don't you do something more constructive with your time like ummm VOLUNTEER on the Fire Dept. But than again why would you do that? Your too busy complaining about the new siren to care about helping the community. Get a life.... |

I think the Cranbury Sauce articles are a great way to lighten up the atmosphere in town and are by no means seriously degrading the fire siren. It's satire. |

REALLY ?????? I hate to think how your brain processes the Cranbury Sauce. It's a big joke, something to laugh about. You can't be serious and must be trying to stir the pot here. |

Seriously? I don't think Cranbury Sause was taking any sides -- they are like any good comic -- they are equal opportunists in making light of any topic that gets too serious.
You need to find a sense of humor and relax. |
