high school question from potential resident

hi-

i am considering moving to the area and am interested in the details of the send/receive relationship with Princeton High School. Specifically, i am interested in the frequency its reviewed and how a different decision might be made... my realtor mentioned that he "thought" that it was up for review in 2012 with a bias towards a move to East Windsor HS.

Appreciate any insight or direction as to where i can learn more.

My experience in moving here was that a couple of agents pushed me to WW saying Cranbury would send or was sending to Hightstown. Having grown up here and knowing the relationship I found that to not only be funny, but a bit misleading as though they wanted to push other homes in WW.

Our home values are largely due to the schools and that includes Princeton. There is in my opinion no one at all pushing for a move to Highstown. East Windsor does not have a high school of their own.

For over 75 years Cranbury, Roosevelt Borough, and East Windsor sent their students to Hightstown High School. The original Hightstown High is now the Rodgers School on Stockton Street in Hightstown. In the late 1960's and 1970's East Windsor saw tremendous growth(Twin Rivers, Cranbury Manor, and Brooktree.) in order to have more say in their school system, East Windsor Township decided that they wanted to regionalize with Hightstown instead of just sending their kids to HHS. This would have pushed Cranbury to regionalize forming the Hightstown/East Windsor/Cranbury Regional School District. Cranbury did not want this since it would mean giving up it's own k-8. The last Cranbury kids graduated HHS around 1981. From 1981-1991 Cranbury sent it kids to Lawrence High School. From 1991 to present Cranbury has sent it's students to PHS.

While it is possible that Princeton could stop accepting Cranbury students because we are not regionalized withe Princeton, it is highly unlikely that Cranbury would end up sending it's kids back to HHS.

Quality education is a top priority. I can't imagine the residents here consciously choosing to switch from Princeton, unless a better option is presented. My understanding is that Princeton is happy with the arrangement, as well.

You should ask the school for the particulars, but I believe the school has just signed a new long term agreement with Princeton.

Not only is Princeton happy with our students, who are well prepared for Princeton High School, they also like having the "revenue" ie tuition that we pay to have our students go there....especially now.
