State set to upgrade Route 130 The state Department of Transportation is planning several changes to make Route 130 safer.
The state wants to make Route 130 safer.
To do that, the state Department of Transportation is planning to add a right-turn lane on southbound Route 130 at the intersection of Old Trenton Road and reduce the size of a center island on Route 130 at the South River Road intersection.
The smaller island will allow trucks to make turns onto Route 130 from South River Road more easily, according to Township Engineer Cathleen Marcelli.
The two projects in Cranbury are part of a wider effort to ease traffic around N.J. Turnpike Exit 8A and will affect approaches to the roadway in South Brunswick as well.
Ms. Marcelli said the cost of both projects will be covered by the state and should be completed this summer.
