Township Committee plans a property tax revaluation.

The township wants to do a complete revaluation of property to bridge the gap between assessed and market values.

The Township Committee adopted a resolution Monday requesting that the Middlesex County Board of Taxation to approve a full revaluation.

Township Tax Assessor Steve Benner is scheduled to meet with the county board Tuesday to present the township's request and begin the process, which will include inspections of every property in the township. The township hopes to begin inspections in early 2006.

The revaluation — which would be the first townshipwide revaluation since 1986 — could take up to two years to complete and would most likely affect property taxes starting in 2007.
