Cranbury gets approval for a townshipwide tax revaluation.
Cranbury is one step closer to a full tax revaluation of all property in the township.
The Middlesex County Board of Taxation approved Cranbury's request Tuesday for a townshipwide revaluation.
The township needs approval for the revaluation, which will include an inspection of every property in the township, from the state Division of Taxation in the Department of Treasury before it can move forward. However, the township must hire an appraiser and develop a plan for the revaluation before the state will approve it.
Cranbury Tax Assessor Steve Benner said Thursday he will begin work on bid specifications for the revaluation. Mr. Benner said he is currently calculating a cost estimate developing a timeline. Mr. Benner said he hopes to get state approval for a plan by the end of 2005 and start inspections in early 2006.
