I do not think that this will work in Cranbury. The town is not business friendly at all. The zoning/planning boards will not allow any retail even on Rt 130 or in the warehouse section. I fear some members have personal agendas as owners of some businesses in town or owners of commercial buildings in the village.
7-11, Wawa, various strip malls have all been denied recently.
It is time to open up along Rt 130 and build it up. More ratables sound good to me. I wish it would work here but fear it will not. |

In Plainsboro when they developed the new Village they pressured the strip mall across the street to set ridiculous terms to force out the smaller mom-and-pop stores like the a video store that had been there forever. Then a Blockbuster was put in and lasted only a couple years before closing shop. I know of other mom-and-pops that submitted proposals for the new Village side only to be told they wanted bigger name chains. And many of the chains have since failed. Cold Stone, etc.
In West Windsor they have been in an internal Township civil war over trying to convert the train station area to a village and have gotten nowhere really despite millions in development costs and years of effort. As it stands they have no town center at all. |

| Teddy's reputation for its food and service speaks for itself. It is a pleasure to sit in there and enjoy a well cooked, reasonably priced meal. The staff and owners have warmly greeted their customers for too many years to mention. However, the choice of where one likes to eat is personal so enjoy wherever you like. Time will tell the success of a restaurant. |

I agree. Its remarkable that so many commercial property owners consider themselves entitled to zoning variances. |

I agree. Teddy's is old and dingy. I've tried their food before. I thought they were a little pricey for what they offered. I've tried their breakfast sandwiches a couple of times and thought they were chintzy on the bacon. I'd rather go to a regular diner then there. Then, you have the issue of parking. Fuggetabout it! |

Wow, so many people loving to be negative and not offer their names. I will say I eat there at least once a week and enjoy the family atmosphere. The staff and owners are very friendly, they are very clean as our health inspector in Cranbury is one of the toughest in the area, and they just redesigned their restaurant.
People complain about price, but their prices are lower than the local diners and even Wendy's. And the parking again? Seriously? There is a lot behind Teddy's and a street alongside and in front. |

7-11 was on a dangerous spot. I support business on 130 and do not support the 7-11 location there. The other denials were against the current Master Plan which means variances needed to be granted. Once that happens you create a precedent that means the town is now open to development we may not want or feel appropriate.
These issues do need to be addressed, but through the course of reviewing the master plan which is occurring right now. |
