Last year we had candidates who were writing letters weekly to the paper and detailing their positions. It seemed pretty energized last year and I think we saw a good result. This year I haven't seen anything yet from any of the candidates.

Is this perhaps a return to the way the elections used to be where the debate was the core place to hear the positions? or was last year just a different year.

I raise this because I don't know where the TC candidates stand on anything this year.

It would be nice to know considering we are only a short few months away from Novemeber (Election time).

Agree. I don't know who is running either which is one reason I asked the question. I was embarrassed so I am glad I am not alone. It would be good to know what people are running on.

There don't seem to be any divisive issues (library, land, etc.) and the paper said the town is saving money this year. So it seems things are working well. Maybe it's just a quiet year. But, it would be good to know what people want to do or feel are important.

Glenn Johnson (D), Dan Mulligan (R) and Arthur Hasselbach (R) are running for two open seats this fall. Candidates typically wait to ramp up their campaigns until after Labor Day when most residents are back in town from vacations, etc.

They were the two who actively sought nomination on the ballet. Both parties had write-in efforts at the last minute which is how Art got on. Jon Ritter (who ran previously) only got a few write-ins and not enough to quality.

Okay. I assume Glenn and Dan have similar views as last year. Anyone know what Art's positions are?

Glenn wants to turn Cranbury into a commune. Art wants to level the town and pave it. Vote for Dan.

Perfect, so I say we ask one of the current TC members to resign- Win, Dave or Jay in the effort of building unity in 2011.

We level the town, but in a compromise don't pave it. We then turn Cranbury into NJ's version of woodstock and a commune community. Cranbury Day event mudslide down Main. Dan can then be the Mayor of Commune Cranbury. Everyone wins and tourism will be a huge boon making up for the lost warehouse value. In fact we could sell the kids arts and crafts projects from Cranbury school as authentic art.

In fact, I am sure Art has a tractor so we wouldn't spend any money on the leveling.

Maybe we can change the name of the town to Cranstock and have a weekend music festival every week instead of only once a year? I'll bet we could get the Crandaddies, Selkow and BBQ Bob to go for it.

Now we're talking. We could have a Farm Aid concert where we use the proceeds to pay for open space. We could even follow the state of Delaware and have a Pumpkin Chuckin contest.

See what happens when candidates don't state a platform, the town creates them Very Happy .
