Cranbury School improvements will not begin until August.

Improvements to Cranbury School's heating, ventilation and air conditioning system won't begin until August because of delays in developing new specifications for another round of bids.

School Business Administrator Brian DeLucia said Wednesday the school board, Innovative Engineering and architectural firm LAN need more time to draft the specifications for the project, which has seen several changes since May when the Board of Education rejected the bids that exceeded the $1.1 million cap it set for the project.

The board decided to eliminate four classrooms from the project and is seeking three separate contractors for electrical, mechanical and general contracting to replace outmoded heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems and replace ceilings, windows, cabinets and other equipment in classrooms and the old gym in portions of the school built in 1949 and 1957.
