I saw this reminds me how thankful we should be for our officers.
A few times posters have posted about the cost or letting Plainsboro do our policing. Our officers really do a wonderful job and we're lucky to have them. We rarely if ever have to worry about crime and yet clearly they do take on risks as the article below shows.
Cranbury: Police Officers Assaulted
CRANBURY — Two officers were assaulted last week by a township man and needed treatment at area hospitals.
Police said that on Nov. 23 at about 7 p.m., officers Michael Cipriano and Douglass Mayer went to Danser Drive for a report of an assault.
When the policemen got there, they gave first aid to the victim, a male who the police refused to identify. The victim and the suspect, Willy DeJesus, 49, also of Cranbury, were neighbors and having an argument, police said.
Ten minutes later, Mr. DeJesus returned to the area, and the officers started to interview him, but he became “uncooperative and combative” and assaulted the policemen, according to police Chief Rick Varga.
The officers were able to subdue Mr. DeJesus. Both officers received nonlife-threatening injuries and were treated at area hospitals and released after a few hours, the chief said. He wouldn’t say what their injuries were.
One of the officers returned to work the next day; the other, a few days later, Chief Varga said.

I agree, we are lucky to have such a fine group of officers who take the time to stop and talk and are so involved in the community. |

I am shocked to see this kind of behavior from a resident toward our police officers. I feel terrible for the officers. I hope they're OK. We are lucky to have such great officers in our community. They handle the residents very well, and the residents are usually very respectful of the officers. |

I often hear residents say why do we need a police department or why do we need 2-3 officers on at a time. Then I look at this and as the article states this was the second time in just over a year where officers have been physically assaulted. What would have happened if we only had one officer on duty at this time or if we had to call in South Brunswick or Plainsboro would that issue have been a lot worse?
We should be thankful we residents are protected from seeing this crime and allowing us to feel safe. To me I'll gladly pay for their services. I am fine cutting other areas, but not my safety. |

Where did you get the info that it was a millionaire? I didn't read that anywhere. Seems like you are just creating a story. |

Lately I hear its been hard enough to get 2 cops at a call, the way the force has been depleted. |

It's really tough to have only 20 cops for a population of 2000. What will we do ???? |

4000 residents but how many people working in all the warehouses and how many people driving through this town? That 4000 number doubles if not triples with these extra factors.
Think before you type please. |

I think you're being too quick to bark at the wrong poster. I simply correcting the previous poster who said there were 2,000 people living in town by pointing out it was twice that number. I agree there are even more if you count people working, shopping or moving thorugh here and never suggested otherwise and I made no inference on the size of the police force in any way. Perhaps you should take a deep breath before you type since you seem to be reading a lot into posts that isn't there. |

I just want to correct a statement someone above made. The Twp at it's highest peak had 19 officers. Since that time 2 chiefs have retired and the TC promoted officers up to fill the chief's position. However, the town has elected not to replace the officers. So they saved the costs of the salaries, but now the department is down to 17 police officers in total from 19. |

You are right. I made assumptions. If he lives on Danser, as the article suggests, there is a good shot he's a millionaire. If he attacked two cops, he was probably drunk (or high, or both). Any way you look at it, if the guy attacked our Officers, he is a menace to society and the rest of us should encourage him (legally) to leave town. |

Really not fair to say we are all Millionaires on Danser since this incident actually occurred over by the affordable housing here on our road. |

Moreover, the Danser Dr. non-affordable housing is far from the most expensive stuff in town, Niccola ct, Silvers lane, etc. I think this guy has his developments confused or he is just trying to stir things up. |
