With the chance of a heavy storm early next week, the time to be prepared is now. Check out this site from the State of NJ Office of Emergency Management on preparedness...

http://ready.nj.gov/

Also, please use 911 for emergencies only. 609-395-0031 for non emergent issues

Thanks,
Michael

I heard.... that a county engineer said their is over a 70% chance of the damn and main st washing out due to the sudden rush of water thanks to hurricane Sandy (if she does indeed head this way). They said being that the damn has not taken that much water ever since it was drained, that where the dam is compromised, the earth has dried and cracked which makes it more susceptible to washing out. I for one am very worried. That would be catastrophic for our town. Anyone know if the town and or county are making preparations for this??

I spoke with Mr. Taylor this evening. To the extent possible it seems the TC and town are working non-stop preparing.

The police, fire and OEM are all preparing for the storm and ready for what may come. He did not have information on the Dam only that Mr. Cook as Mayor is working with the DEP and Engineer on the Dam issues.

He also said to avoid conflicting statements or confusion in terms of actions and support each TC member has a role. His is OEM and Mayor Cook's is the Dam. I don't know the other TC members roles.

All downed power lines should be treated as energized and dangerous. Please report the downed wire to your perspective electrical companies secure the area to prevent contact with the downed power line. Under no circumstances should there be any contact with the downed power lines except by utility personnel.

Thanks,
Michael

I feel bad for all the people who live by the lake.... Lets hope that there is not much flooding again this time.
