Cranbury Circle - >>>> Caution Visual Obstruction

Be careful at Cranbury Circle as a series of new signs (>>>>) were placed by the county on southbound side center lane.

Depending on how high you sit in your vehicle, these signs can significantly obstruct the view of approaching traffic southbound 130 as you cross route 130 going into Cranbury.

Also southbound 130 traffic also is challenged as it iis now harder to see the vehicles that may be crossing.

The county I am sure had good intentions in putting up the signs. But the intersection is less safer now.

That type of traffic safety issue is something that Cranbury Police Department /traffic safety officer should be dealing with before the accident happens not after it happens.

There is no traffic safety officer anymore. There hasn't been one in years.

If there is no Traffic Safety Officer then should we just ignore the issue until someone gets killed? It seems to me its just one more reason to merge with Plainsboro . They have a Traffic Safety Officer and so does South Brunswick and East Windsor. There should be at least one person in the Cranbury P D that could handle this simple problem.

There are traffic officers.

There is no traffic bureau. There used to be and their responsibility was to do speed traps, look for failures to yield in crosswalks, etc...

When the township reduced the officer head count the officers were folded into doing regular patrol and spend more time responding to calls.

I know this because I actually speak to the officers and not listen to this board. I encourage everyone to speak with our town's officers or TC if you want the truth.

I also read the TC minutes where they mention the circle issues a few times a year and police reaching out to the county. The county just doesn't think about this given how many roads they manage and don't care.

In looking at the sign placement very carefully, I really only see one sign that is a problem, the one closest to the intersection southbound. And this one likley to block the view for those sitting high as in a pickup or SUV. Regular sedans, when I was looking at the same area there is no obstruction.

Will leave a message for the officer, maybe they can take a look.

The high grass at the circle was mentioned in the minutes and Ms. Marabello said the Police Department was asked to contact DOT but she did not mention that they had done so. Does anyone know if any contact has been made to address this issue?
