March 22, 2020 - Cranbury Township - First Confirmed Case of COVID 19

The Cranbury Township Office of Emergency Management was notified this evening that one resident has tested positive for COVID-19. This is Cranbury Township's first confirmed case. We wish this resident well and hope for a speedy recovery.

Middlesex County has 117 people testing positive for the virus. The Cranbury Township Office of Emergency Management is working closely with the Middlesex County Health Department who is the lead in the investigation of these cases and is responsible for all notifications.

We continue to urge our residents to follow all restrictions mandated in NJ Executive Order 107.

You continue to urge residents to follow all restrictions mandated in NJ Executive order 107? It’s the law. The urging part should be over based on the disgust shown by the governor due to ignorance of this new law shown by residents.

I walked heritage park and village park the last couple of days. I saw a number of kids playing like there was no concern. I understand as a parent it is tough to say no and it is tough to have to keep the kids home. But, if we do not then this is going to get worse and take longer while putting more lives at risk. We do not know who is sick and who is not, who is a carrier and who is not. So don’t take the chance. Protect your family and mine. This is not a joke.

There might not have enough hospital beds for the sick, so be careful.

If kids are are in the park playing with parents and siblings what is the issue? I have also been in the park taking a walk for the last few days, people I see together are family members, is this what you are referring to? All the guidelines have encouraged people to take walks, ride bikes and get outside. As long as people are keeping a safe distance of 6ft, this might be the only way the community will adhere for an extended period of time and maintain a healthy state of mind.

No. I am not talking about families. I am talking about adults walking together who I know are not in the same family and kids I know that are friends of my kids hanging out together.

It sounds like you would need to know more before passing judgement. If no one in either family has shown symptoms for 2 weeks and they have otherwise been social distancing, then there is essentially no additional risk to hanging out together.

Here’s the good news, if you think they’re taking too big of a risk, you can choose not to hang out with them.

Sorry but no. It was the group of about 20, adults and teenage children playing soccer in the park.

If the two people are together they don’t know where the other one has been that includes going to stores which is why all of these things are being closed down. And if you are letting four kids from 4 different families play together then you are increasing that risk of spread.

It sounds like to me you may be one of the people ignoring all the doctors and everyone else saying to social distance and creating excuses instead on why you can do it.

BTw, I was not hanging out with them. I was pointing out that people are ignoring what everyone is telling them and that needs to stop.

You have no idea who I am or what I’ve been doing and yet you have no problem making assumptions and passing judgements. It sounds to me like you’re just jealous and feeling left out. Enjoy your self righteous solitude.

I think the bigger question is, who is our first case? I’d rather know in case I’ve run into or know this person. Even moreso - how can we help him/her?

That would be a HIPAA violation.
