August 13 - Mayor's Update

Greetings Cranbury,

I want to update you on a few things going on in town.

First and foremost, I am very excited to see that the new Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC) is already taking strides towards their goal of helping our downtown thrive and our local businesses grow. They have created a first of its kind “Cranbury Perception” survey for Cranbury residents to get your feedback on what you like about our town, what you don’t like, and what you want to see happen in the future. It’s an important first step in creating a vision and plan for what we all want our downtown to look like. It’s available now on the Township website and must be completed by August 23rd. Please take a few minutes to complete it!

The Survey should be in your email as well and if not, here it is:

As you may have heard, we are indeed cancelling Cranbury Day for 2020. With the ongoing pandemic and the need to continue to be vigilant in our social distancing, it is not prudent for us to allow such a gathering to occur this year. Additionally we are cancelling the planned fireworks display as well. Rest assured we do not take these decisions lightly, and no one is more disappointed at the need to make them as I am.

Finally, I know you all share my frustration at all the cancellations and restrictions that we have had to endure this year. I am grateful for the patience and understanding that you all have shown in the face of this ongoing pandemic and national emergency. I know it is not easy nor is it any fun.

My feeling is that if we just hang on and continue to show restraint and consideration for the rest of this year and or until a vaccine is produced, then we can raise the roof and celebrate together like we never have before! We can make our next 4th of July and Cranbury Day the best and biggest ever!

Thanks again for your time and attention.

Stay safe and please keep wearing your masks!

Mayor Matt Scott
