On this garbage collection issue, I would rather they don't make the decision for me. This is not an essential issue; most people in town already have Midco as their service provider.

yeah but they can negotiate a better deal with midco than you can.

I think having a vote to look into the garbage collection issue is a good idea. If the majority is not interested in this option, then there is no need to put the time, energy, and money in taking it further.

That's my opinion too. It does not cost us anything to ask these questions so why not put them on the ballott and allow the town to direct what they want the TC to focus on as core concerns? Simply because I don't think something is a concern does not mean my neighbor does not.

Parking seems to be a hot topic, why not put a question about should the TC look into ways to increase parking including the possible purchase of land up to XX amount? Or with the 2% cap should the town continue to look at open space preservation?

It doesn't cost a thing, but allows the town residents to provide input if they are unable to attend a meeting. I may not have voted for every TC member who sits up there, but at least this way they understand my view.

So why then have a public comment period at public meetings? Why complain about the decisions made? This is a democracy where we can give and should give a view to our officials. What you're saying is we shouldn't have a voice except for when we go and elect our representatives.

Do people understand what they vote for? This was to LOOK INTO garbage collection. No one is mandating garbage collection will happen.

The TC is now asked to go out to bid, get a price, get a collection schedule and then put it on a referendum at the next election for voting on.

If it passes then it will be instituted if it does not it will not.

If they stick with tradition of picking experience on the TC it will be Win Cody, if he's interested, since he'll be into his third year while all the other members are either new or just starting their second year.
