guest666 has a good point. why not keep the 2 positions as 2 positions? why combine them into 1 full time position when obviously they could be performed as 2 part time positions? this would save taxpayer money on benefits and pensions. also, 2 positions would add to the economy--2 people working (especially with this salary) is better than 1! more time for them to shop and spend their salary! another advantage is that tenure would not be issue when that time comes.
That is not a good point. Do you have a part time boss? The township administrator is responsible for the whole township staff. They have to be there to manage the staff, conduct the workings of the township, attend meetings with other entities etc...
Did you attend the meeting and ask the question?

I would hazard to guess that the TC did not do this without analysis. So rather than discuss rumor or speculation on value or ability, why not email the TC and ask for their comment? I attended the meeting last night and only one resident asked a question. If this many people were concerned, then why not go to the meeting and ask your questions? Or email the TC get a response and post it here?
Of course what you are suggesting would be reasonable. But if I were reasonable, I would not be on the internet. It is a plot. A dirty Chi-com plot to take over Cranbury. They will then flouridate or water and take control of our precious bodily fluids. The TC is made up of liberal commies.
Actually the fluoridation will be used for mind control.

Let's see if I can figure this out: 1person 7hrs a day + 1 peron 7hrs per day = 2 people 14 hrs per day. Now 1 person 7 hrs per day. I guess I must be using the same bad math as guest 666 is using. Unless the new person is working14 hr day's this doesn't seem possible.
The outgoing administrator was a waste of money for the town. She should have gone years ago.

How is one person going to be able to do the work of 2 full time employees? I understand that it will save money but I don't understand why we had 2 seperate positions before this if one person can do the job now. That must mean that before these 2 positions should have been part-time. There must have been alot of down time for the 2 positions before this.nobody thought to look at this before? I must be using different math to figure this out.

The reason that they can afford to live in town is because they have the top 2 highest salaries

Under her watch as the CFO the bond rating and debt has all improved. I think Ms. Marabello will do a fine job and I congratulate her. It's nice that our Town Administrator and Police Chief are all town residents as well.

I was at the meeting last night and without having the official bottom line numbers this definitely appears to be a job well done by the committee by consolidating two jobs into one which saves all of us on salary, benefits and pension obligations.

Cranbury Township Administrator/Finance Officer making $122,000? Sounds crazy to me! If you look at the APP website under Data Universe, you can see all State employees and how much money they make. Looks like most people who make that much money are judges, research scientists, etc. I think you will be hard pressed to find another Township Administrator in a small town like Cranbury making that much money.
Even if that was the going rate pre-great recession, salaries have deflated since. Unless there is a good reason not to, they should start at least 15% lower.
The position was discussed tonight. They are eliminating the role of the administrator when Ms. Smeltzer retires and promoting Ms. Marabello to be both the CFO and Administrator. So one person will be doing two jobs saving us salary and benefits.
