Hi Does anyone know a good local HVAC repair person to check a central air unit that does not cool down anymore? Thanks.
First them I would check is the Freon, especially if you haven't in a few years. It is the principle cooling agent and without it you're just blowing air around. I can't say I have a strong recommendation. We have used several people because several locals we have used haven't been dependable. Which is not to say there aren't some who are, just not who we have come across. We have more recently used Princeton Air which is probably the largest firm in the area. No specific complaints. Prices are middle-of-the-road and you'll likely never see the same person twice, which is the downside.
I talked with a neigbor that had a similar problem with their unit that was nearly identical. Cranbury Comfort talked him into replacing the complete unit at an outrageous cost. Beware Cranbury Comfort
In many cases the cost of replacement of 10 year old or older equipment makes economic sense rather than repair depending on the problem. we always give our customers the choice whenever we diagnose a problem as to whether it is better to repair or replace! And when we quote a new job our customers are asked to respond to a simple survey so we can offer them the type of equipment that suits their home and family best. Even then you can chose Good-Better-Best. In addition to the quote, many of our customers get multiple quotes. "Outrageous cost" to one homeowner may be reasonable to another!

If you feel that you received a "nonsense charge" then please call Larry at 609-758-5600 to discuss. Sometimes charges are preventative, but in order to answer your charge against us then i need to know specifics. We have Always been fair in answering the few grievances that we receive. Let us answer this one!
