Mayor's Update - January 10, 2023
Dear Cranbury Residents,
We held our first regular Township Committee meeting last evening. We honored Troop 52 Scoutmaster, Tim Brennan, for his 40 years of scouting service and 10 years as Scoutmaster! Many folks in town know Tim as Scoutmaster, but others know him as a coach, teacher, hiker, photographer, or summer recreational camp director. Thanks to Tim for his many years of mentorship and leadership for young men in Cranbury.
Also at last night’s meeting, we reviewed 2023 goals. These include supporting the Board of Education as they embark on their referendum construction, welcoming new businesses to town, completing the re-surfacing of Plainsboro Road, and installing an ADA-compliant half-mile walking path in Village Park. We’ll also be driving a project to install consistent signage around town, including gateway signs. We’ll also continue to deliver on bike safety network action items and Sustainable Jersey items. Finally, we will be continuing our outreach with neighboring towns and the county on regional flood resilience strategies and regional truck management strategies. Above all, the five Township Committee members are committed to delivering municipal services in a transparent, consistent fashion that aligns with the priorities of our residents.
A few reminders about upcoming events/actions:
Saturday (January 14): Coffee with the Mayor: Join me and Deputy Mayor Eman El-Badawi for Coffee with the Mayor! 10:00 – noon in the Swanagan Gallery at the new Cranbury Public Library (30 Park Place West). Come, meet us, and tour the new library building!
Saturday (January 21): 2023 Budget Meeting: Feel free to watch municipal government in action as we build the 2023 budget, starting at 9:00 a.m. We will review capital projects for consideration over the next few years.
January 31: Deadline for 2023 Animal Licensing: The forms are here --- please remember to include the rabies certificate valid through October. Late fees apply after January 31.
And now, today’s final word comes from our new public library Director, Brooke Basista:
As you may have heard, the Cranbury Public Library had the Grand Opening of our new building on November 19. (If you haven’t stopped by, you really must!). The building is spectacular with cozy study nooks and a fireplace to read by, and ample meeting rooms. The CPL team is excited for the many possibilities that the new building will afford us, and we look forward to bringing you exciting speakers and events in the new year.
